Golden Globes 2024: How to watch and what to know about the award show
The Globes will broadcast on CBS and will stream on Paramount Plus and the CBS app — a first after the awards show spent decades on NBC.
End of carouselThe move comes after Dick Clark Productions and investor Todd Boehly’s Eldridge company bought the rights and assets to the Globes in June from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which subsequently closed its doors.
The HFPA, whose members voted on Globe nominees, was embroiled in controversy following a 2021 Los Angeles Times report that found it had no Black members. Separately, Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa filed a lawsuit alleging that the HFPA engaged in several unethical practices, including “accepting thousands of dollars in emoluments.”
Boehly said after completing the purchase that his group would look to expand the “diverse and international voting body” for the Globes.
That seems to have happened. According to the Golden Globes, the current voting body for the awards is made up of 300 members who are entertainment journalists from 75 countries. The Globes said the group includes a diverse mix of people who identify as Latino (26.3 percent), Asian (13.3 percent), Black (11 percent) and Middle Eastern (9 percent).
“Our commitment to maintaining the diversity of our voting body continues,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Golden Globes, in a statement last October, adding that the voters bring “a unique international perspective on nominating the best in motion pictures and television this year.”
